Apprentices one year on. Where are you now: Maysan Amin

For National Apprentice Week we have followed up with some of our former apprentices to see how they are doing since completing their programme. Today we are with Maysan Amin who completed her Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship in 2024 with Inspire ATA.

After completing her apprenticeship at Meadowhead School Maysan was offered a full-time position at the school and she has since been promoted to Learning Mentor.

“I decided to choose an apprenticeship programme as I was really interested in learning on the job” Maysan said, “I also found that I learnt a lot by observing other professionals.”.

Doing an apprenticeship programme offers a range of benefits. When asked about the main benefits of the programme Maysan highlighted “learning on the job with other professionals, gaining valuable experience, good career advancement, and skill development”.

Maysan credits her apprenticeship in giving her career opportunities saying, “my apprenticeship here at Meadowhead opened up so many opportunities for me and I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity.”

Looking into the future, Maysan shared that she is looking to progress within the SEN department “I have found my passion currently in the SEN department and would like to progress internally here at Meadowhead.”

Apprenticeships allow learners to gain a wide set of skills, as Maysan explains “Since starting my apprenticeship, I have gained valuable insights and developed a diverse skill set. One of the key areas of growth has been understanding various learning needs and implementing effective strategies to support students within lessons. More recently, I have expanded this knowledge to provide comprehensive support across the school environment as a whole”.

As parting words, Maysan would like to say to anyone considering an apprenticeship route “go for every opportunity you are given!”
