In line with our equal opportunities policy, recruitment and selection procedures will be free from bias or discrimination.
Advertise - All jobs and opportunities will be advertised as widely as is reasonably practicable, to ensure that applicants come forward from a wide variety of backgrounds and walks of live.
Short-list - When shortlisting, we will take into consideration only the applicant's qualifications, experience and suitability for the role. Ages, dates of birth and other irrelevant information should be obscured from application forms to avoid inadvertent or unintentional discrimination.
Interview - Interviewers will not ask questions which relate to any protected characteristics. Interviewers will ask all applicants the same set of questions to ensure equal treatment as far as possible.
Selection - All selection will be thorough, conducted against defined criteria and will deal only with the applicant's suitability for the job. Where it is necessary to ask questions relating to personal circumstances, these will be related purely to job requirements and asked to all candidates.
Prevent is a strand of the Government counter terrorism strategy. The UK faces a range of terrorist threats. All the terrorist groups who pose a threat to us seek to radicalise and recruit people to their cause. You can read more about this in our Safeguarding Policy or on the government website.
What to do if you have a concern:
Contact the Prevent Lead from the Local Authority – in Prevent priority areas, the local authority will have a Prevent lead who can also provide support. You can also contact your local police force or dial 101 (the non-emergency number). They can talk to you in confidence about your concerns and help you gain access to support and advice.
ACT EARLY is a dedicated PREVENT website where you can find information on what to do if you are worried someone close to you is expressing extreme views or hatred, which could lead to harm of themselves or others. Helpline number: 0800 011 3764
Contact the Department for Education’s Dedicated Helpline: 020 7340 7264 – This will enable staff and governors to raise concerns relating to extremism directly. Concerns can also be raised by email to counter.extremism@education.gov.uk. Please note that the helpline is not intended for use in emergency situations, such as a child being at immediate risk of harm or a security incident, in which case the normal emergency procedures should be followed.
