Jack embarks on a career in education through an apprenticeship
It’s National Apprenticeship Week! Throughout this week Inspire ATA will be sharing stories from past and present learners celebrating successes and empowering apprentices. Today we are sharing the story of Jack, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentice from Nobel School. Jack said:
“I chose this apprenticeship because I have a genuine passion for working with young children. I believe that childhood is a crucial stage in a child’s development, and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to their growth and well-being. I hope to make a positive impact by providing a supportive and nurturing environment that helps them build a strong foundation for the future.
My apprenticeship has been a valuable experience that has allowed me to gain practical skills while working in a real-world environment. I have had the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, which has helped me build confidence and improve my abilities. The hands-on experience has also given me a deeper understanding of the work involved in childhood education, and I’ve been able to apply what I've learned in a meaningful way. This apprenticeship has not only helped me grow professionally but also is inspiring me to continue pursuing a career in this field.
The best part of my role is personally coming in each day and seeing the students. Watching them grow and develop over time is incredibly rewarding. Seeing their progress, whether it’s in their confidence, skills, or understanding, makes me feel that I’m making a real difference in their lives. Being part of their learning journey is truly the most fulfilling aspect of my apprenticeship.
My tutor Sammie has been incredibly supportive throughout my apprenticeship. She has made my coursework feel much less stressful by offering guidance and encouragement whenever I need it. Our monthly meetings are extremely beneficial, as they give me the chance to discuss any challenges and receive valuable feedback. I truly appreciate her support as she has played a key role in helping me succeed. The team at Inspire ATA have
provided a great onboarding for me and supported me to stay on track with my studies.
The most important skill I have learned during my apprenticeship is teamwork. Being able to collaborate effectively with others is essential in any workplace, especially in an environment like this, where working together to support the students is key. Teamwork has taught me how to communicate better, share ideas, and help solve problems as a group. It also creates a supportive environment where everyone can contribute their strengths. I believe this skill is important because it allows for more efficient and effective work, ultimately benefiting both the team and the students we support.
After completing this apprenticeship, my next step in my career is to progress towards becoming a PE teacher, which has always been my dream. I am passionate about sports and physical education, and I want to inspire and encourage students to lead healthy, active lives. I plan to further my education and qualifications in this area so that I can eventually teach PE and make a positive impact on students' physical and personal development.”
