Teaching Assistant Shannon gives back through apprenticeship
It’s National Apprenticeship Week! All throughout this week Inspire ATA is sharing stories from across our apprenticeship programmes to celebrate our apprentices and spotlight their success. Today we are sharing the story of Shannon, a 21-year-old Teaching Assistant apprentice from Haileybury Turnford school.
Shannon is passionate about helping children who struggle in school, as she herself has experienced this in her schooling journey, she said “I wanted to help children who struggles with school, I wanted to give back all the support I had received when I was in school.”
Seeing the children improve and succeed is very rewarding to Shannon saying that “getting the children started and understand their work in class” is the best thing about her job. She stated that the best skills she has learned are “all the different ways to help the children due to all their different needs.”
Shannon has been thoroughly supported in her apprenticeship saying that “everybody at Inspire ATA is so helpful when I have questions.” She continued to talk about the support from her line manager, team, and tutor saying “My Inspire ATA manger has been really helpful with my placement, if I need anything she is there. My team is really good and helpful. My tutor really helps me breakdown the work to understand it better. “
Shannon thoroughly enjoys her role and said that in the future she hopes to continue on the Teaching Assistant path.
Best of luck in the future, Shannon from everyone at Inspire ATA.
